Engaging in experiential curriculum
I spent most of my professional career as a journalist and university employee engaging with students at the elementary, high school, and college levels on panels, in mentoring roles, and designing experiential curriculum for the classroom. I am mission-driven and strive to be a servant leader.
Through a newsroom initiative, I launched a partnership between the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and a 5th grade class that established a volunteer program for journalists to work one-on-one to mentor students through a writing and editing curriculum. The program lasted for 11 years.
Currently, I serve as a volunteer staff adviser to a campus improv group, teach a digital media course at Carroll University, and have traveled with student groups to help lead Cross Cultural Experience and Alternative Spring Break trips to engage in community volunteering.
